What is the Form Studio Wash+Cure?

The Form Studio Wash+Cure is an all-in-one, compact, and affordable post-processing unit engineered to complete the Form Studio 1 ecosystem. By combining washing and curing functions into a single tabletop footprint, it frees up workspace, eliminates extra equipment management, and provides a fast, reliable route to finished 3D prints.

Designed for simplicity and safety, the unit cleans liquid resin with efficient impeller solvent agitation and post-cures parts under 405 nm UV light on a stowable glass turntable to maximise mechanical strength, toughness, and surface finish.

Key Features at a Glance

  • Single Benchtop Footprint: Combines washing and UV curing into one device to conserve valuable workspace.
  • Agitated Solvent Cleaning: An internal impeller circulates solvent (IPA, TPM, or Formlabs Resin Washing Solution) thoroughly across every surface.
  • 405 nm UV Exposure: Rotates parts on a stowable glass turntable under 405 nm light to complete cross-linking and eliminate surface stickiness.
  • Smart Profile Memory: Automatically retains the last-used wash and cure duration for repeatable, touch-of-a-button batch cycles.
  • Enclosed Safety Design: Designed for closed-lid washing to minimise solvent evaporation and contain flammable vapors.
  • Drain & Dry Position: Features a raised basket resting position to allow parts to air-dry post-wash without over-soaking in solvent.

Why Choose the Form Studio Wash+Cure?

Upgrade your SLA post-processing workflow with an efficient, safe, and space-saving unit tailored for everyday resin printing.

All-in-One Space Efficiency

Save bench real estate by handling both washing and curing inside one compact machine without swapping heavy equipment.

Safe Enclosed Operation

Running wash cycles with the lid closed drastically reduces solvent evaporation and keeps flammable vapors safely contained.

Enhanced Mechanical Properties

Post-curing completes photopolymer polymerisation, boosting tensile strength, toughness, and heat resistance while removing surface tackiness.

Intuitive Auto-Memory Settings

Ships with default 5-minute wash and cure presets for Alpha Resins and automatically remembers your last customised run time.

How It Works: Technology & Workflow

The Form Studio Wash+Cure divides post-processing into two straightforward modes to quickly transition raw SLA prints into clean, fully polymerised parts.

1. Solvent Washing Mode

Uncured liquid resin must be washed off printed parts before post-curing. An internal impeller drives aggressive fluid movement using Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA), TPM, or Formlabs Resin Washing Solution.

  • Clean parts directly attached to the Form Studio 1 Build Platform or place loose parts inside the included basket.
  • Safety Note: Always operate washing cycles with the lid fully closed to contain solvent vapors and prevent IPA evaporation.
  • Once completed, manually raise the internal basket to let parts drain and air-dry, preventing solvent over-soaking.

2. 405 nm UV Curing Mode

After drying, drop the stowable glass turntable into the processing chamber. The unit rotates parts under 405 nm UV lighting for even cross-linking across all surface angles.

  • Standard materials such as Tough 1500 and General Purpose Alpha Resins fully cure in ambient temperature in approximately 30 minutes or less.
  • Leaves a hard, non-tacky finish ready for functional testing, assembly, or painting.

4-Step Simple Post-Processing Workflow:

  1. Wash: Mount the build platform or place loose parts into the basin, close the lid, and run the impeller wash cycle (5 minutes default).
  2. Drain & Dry: Lift the internal basket into the upper resting position to allow solvent to drain off parts completely.
  3. Set Curing: Drop in the stowable glass turntable and arrange dried parts across the rotating stage.
  4. UV Cure: Run the 405 nm UV cycle (5 minutes default) to complete polymerisation.

Looking for Faster Curing or Technical Engineering Resins?

While the Form Studio Wash+Cure is an excellent all-in-one solution for general purpose prototyping, certain production environments and high-performance engineering materials require advanced capabilities such as thermal post-curing, higher power output, or automated solvent lifting.

If you require maximum throughput or work with specialised materials, consider upgrading your post-processing setup with the standalone Formlabs Form Wash (Gen 2) and Formlabs Form Cure (Gen 2):

Form Wash (Gen 2)

  • Automated Solvent Elevation: Automatically raises parts out of the solvent when washing finishes to prevent over-soaking if left unattended.
  • Form Studio 1 Compatibility: Fully supports washing Form Studio 1 Build Platforms and Build Platform Flex using Form Wash V2 arm adapters (adapter required for Flex platform).
  • High Volume Agitation: Engineered for continuous duty and high-volume wash management.

Form Cure (Gen 2)

  • 3x to 5x Faster Curing: Operates at significantly higher light intensity/power than Form Studio Wash+Cure, dramatically shortening cure times.
  • Integrated Thermal Heating (Up to 70°C): Features precise chamber heating required for high-performance resins (e.g., Rigid 10K requires 70°C heat).
  • Firmware Profiles: PreForm updates unlock pre-programmed material profiles for Alpha Resins and the entire Formlabs library.

Note: Form Studio 1 users can seamlessly integrate the Form Wash (Gen 2) and Form Cure (Gen 2) into their workflow for the ultimate, industrial-grade post-processing experience.
