How It Works: Technology & Material Guidelines
The Form Studio 1 Build Platform Flex incorporates an integrated spring-steel printing surface held in tension. When the release handles are shifted, the plate flexes smoothly across its surface plane, breaking the mechanical adhesion bond between the raft and the platform without bending or distorting your printed model.
Material Compatibility: When NOT to Use Build Platform Flex
While Build Platform Flex is strongly recommended for almost all rigid, tough, and casting resins, it is not suitable for elastomeric or flexible materials:
- Flexible Materials (e.g., Flexible 80A Resin V2): Elastomeric prints will simply flex along with the plate surface rather than popping free. Always use the standard solid aluminum Form Studio 1 Build Platform when running flexible formulations.
- Ideal For: Alpha Grey, White, Black, Clear, Fast, Model, Tough 1500 V2, True Cast Resin, and rigid 3rd-party 405 nm resins.
Hardware Geometry & Wash Compatibility Notes:
- Low Profile Form Factor: Engineered thinner than Form 4 platforms to help the Form Studio 1 achieve a tall 235 mm vertical build height.
- Form 4 Incompatibility: The seating latch is specific to Form Studio 1; this platform will not fit into a Form 4, and Form 4 platforms will not fit into Form Studio 1.
- Form Wash (Gen 2) Use: Directly compatible with the Form Studio Wash+Cure. If using a standalone Form Wash Gen 2, a dedicated arm adapter is required so the flex arm sits cleanly in the wash basket bracket.
Quick 3-Step Removal Workflow:
- Wash: Transfer the platform directly from the printer to your wash unit.
- Flex: Set the platform on your workbench and squeeze the release handles. The surface flexes, causing your parts to peel off instantly.
- Reset: Release the handles to return the surface to its calibrated flat position, wipe down, and reinstall.
