Accelerate your end-use manufacturing with the Formlabs Fuse X1. Featuring an expansive 61.5L build volume, 120W laser power, and AI-powered print intelligence, this next-generation industrial SLS ecosystem delivers up to 3x the throughput of competitors at half the part cost.
What is the Fuse X1?
The Formlabs Fuse X1 is a next-generation industrial Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) 3D printer engineered to redefine the economics and speed of end-use manufacturing. Built upon the globally dominant architecture of the Fuse 1 Series, the Fuse X1 scales up production capability with a massive 61.5L build volume (330 x 330 x 565 mm) and an advanced 120W Ytterbium Fiber laser.
This system brings industrial-scale additive manufacturing directly onto your production floor without requiring the traditional, multi-million dollar capital investments or intense facility overhauls typically associated with legacy powder bed fusion technologies.
Key Features at a Glance
- Massive Production Capacity: A large 330 x 330 x 565 mm build envelope accommodates full-scale monolithic parts or dense nests of thousands of components.
- Unmatched Value: Delivers up to 50% lower part costs than legacy powder bed fusion systems and cuts initial capital investment to roughly 30% of a leading Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) ecosystem.
- AI-Driven Print Intelligence: Computer vision monitors the print bed in real-time, detecting and masking anomalies to maximize yield and protect your uptime.
- Adaptive Thermal Control: Features 13 independent thermal zones ensuring an incredibly stable temperature, unlocking 30%+ volume packing freedom without risk of deformation.
Why Choose the Fuse X1 for Your Facility?
1. Cost-Competitive with Injection Molding
With the ability to pack prints tightly (exceeding 30% volume density) and a low powder refresh rate (as low as 20%), the Fuse X1 drastically lowers your cost per part. It becomes highly cost-competitive with traditional injection molding for production runs of up to tens of thousands of parts, bypassing the long lead times and high up-front tooling costs.
2. Streamlined Facility Integration
Legacy industrial AM systems mandate highly complex three-phase power infrastructure, specialized ventilation, and enormous footprints. The Fuse X1 operates on single-phase power, occupies a compact footprint of just 1.3 square meters, and is designed to fit through a doorway allowing you to install and print on day one.
3. Rapid High-Volume Production
Get large parts in hours, not days. Most massive, full-scale builds complete in under 24 hours, with same-day large parts finished in as little as 5 hours.
How it Works: Technical Highlights & Automated Workflow
The Fuse X1 is not just a standalone printer; it is a carefully choreographed production ecosystem engineered to minimise manual intervention:
The Step-by-Step Production Ecosystem
- Prepare: Utilise Formlabs PreForm software to effortlessly import CAD models, automatically orient or hollow parts, and leverage AI auto-packing to maximize density and limit powder waste.
- Print: The 120W Ytterbium Fiber laser sinters powder at a rate of 0.330 kg/hr. Real-time AI computer vision actively acts to prevent failures mid-build.
- Swap (5-Minute Changeover): Thanks to modular, insulated Fuse X1 Build Units, you don't have to wait for the machine to cool down. Roll out the hot build chamber using convenient blind-mate power and data connectors, roll in a fresh unit, and immediately start the next job.
- Unpack: The Fuse Sift X1 serves as a closed, powder recovery station. Complete with a sealed glovebox, integrated compressed air, and dual vacuum conveyors, it moves powder cleanly and safely.
- Powder mixing ratios are automatically managed via the scale-integrated Fuse X1 Mix Kit.
- Finish: Post-process automatically with the Fuse Blast. Its large 400 mm Tumbler Basket handles large batch part prints in a single cycle, while the optional Polishing System delivers smooth, semi-gloss, dye-ready surfaces.
